Modern Editorial At Larz Anderson House

Set against the historic architecture of Larz Anderson House, Rebecca and Xiang’s wedding brought a distinctly modern point of view to one of Washington, DC’s most storied spaces. The floral design was sculptural and intentional, pairing soft whites and fresh greens with unexpected notes of deep red, dusty rose, and burgundy.

For the ceremony, clusters of garden florals framed the aisle while tonal ceramic vessels and clean pedestal forms created height and dimension. Calla lilies became a recurring motif throughout the day, appearing in sculptural arrangements and Rebecca’s striking bridal bouquet. Designed as an accessory in its own right, her bouquet paired elongated calla lilies with cascading strands of pearls for a look that felt fashion forward, minimal, and entirely unexpected.

As the celebration moved indoors, the design shifted into something moodier and more intimate. Delicate bud vases, airy branches, tonal blooms, and layers of candlelight filled the tables without overwhelming the ornate interiors of Larz Anderson House. Deep floral tones punctuated the otherwise restrained palette, creating a beautiful tension between old world architecture and contemporary floral design.

Every element played with contrast: historic and modern, romantic and sculptural, delicate and dramatic. The result was a wedding that felt less defined by tradition and more like an editorial study in texture, proportion, and personal style.
