Creating the Unexpected at the National Museum of Women in the Arts
Jo and Ethan’s wedding brought layers of foliage and texture into the National Museum of Women in the Arts, creating the feeling that the landscape had quietly found its way indoors. While one important person in this day is allergic to many traditional florals, the design became especially intentional. Ferns, greenery, and herbs took the lead, allowing the arrangements to feel lush and natural while remaining comfortable for the bride. Deep burgundy tones, soft creams, and abundant greens formed a palette shaped by the season, adding warmth and movement to the museum’s elegant architecture. From the sweeping staircase dressed in autumn leaves and candlelight to long reception tables lined with greenery and glass vessels, each element felt grounded in the natural world.
Guided by the setting, the design was meant to feel immersive rather than decorative. Tall branches rose above candlelit tables while lower arrangements echoed the surrounding foliage, creating a sense of rhythm throughout the room. Flickering candles softened the space and brought a quiet glow to the evening. The florals became part of the atmosphere itself, transforming the museum into an environment that felt both refined and connected to nature at the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
